House Champions

We did it! It's official! Ravenclaw has won the house championship for HSKS6. How EXCITIING! What a great group to be in this term. It definitely was a team effort all term long.

This just goes to show that TEAMWORK really does pay off in the end. Way to go Ravenclaws. That tropy sure does look good in our Common Room.

My owl Snowy is on her way to Mona Ravenscroft as we speak. She had a LONG journey but I know that she'll make it. She's made the long trip across the Atlantic twice before. I can't wait to hear that Mona has received her package. I hope that she likes it.

I plan to come back for HSKS7 and no House Scholarship for me this next term. I've found my home in Ravenclaw.

Back from Sick Call

Well, I'm finally back to Hogwart's after an extended stay in Germany. I have some new high powered iron pills and hopefully now I'll stop being so tired all the time and able to concentrate on my studies!

Now I'm off to see what I've missed in the past week or so. I'm sure I have a LOT of catching up to do!

What's Ailing me?

I went to the infirmary today with a few complaints and I baffled Madam Pomfrey. It appears that I've acquired some ailment that magic can't fix so I'm off to the Muggle Hospital to see if they can figure this out.

What a lot of fun. Team Tailfeather's didn't win, but we did come in 4th place overall. Not a bad showing if I do say so myself. I love my new badge!

Twisted Take on Photo Hunting

I had to come back to the muggle world for this assignment. It was too difficult for me to get anything done at Hogwarts...it was too quiet. Everyone else went to Hogsmeade. I on the other hand decided to be proactive and get this photo hunt finished.

 

This is my marker item. He is my blah buster buddy from the Hot Cocoa Swap last winter. His name is Cecil. Cecil and I are on my balcony. I know....you're jealous of my view right? Well this view is overlooking the Caspian Sea in Baku, Azerbaijan. Eat your hearts out! (note - I'm being VERY sarcastic in this statement)

So here goes.

broom - I cleverly disguise my broom in this handy little case. No one suspects me for what I really am...A WITCH!

diadem - Ah, the Webkinz Crown of Wonder. I've been attempting to get this thing for months now. I'm 5 gems away from the highly coveted prize! MOOOAHAHA!

engagement ring - This is my engagement ring. 1 carat Asscher cut set on point. LOVE IT!

fanged frisbee - - Ok, if anyone really owns a fanged frisbee I'd love to see it. This is the closest I have...my Portion Plate that I use for nutrition education with clients. I guarantee you that at some point someone has wanted to throw it at me!

house socks - On the left, my slytherin sock made with the yarn that I received last term in the HSKS5. It's in the Slytherin colorway by Cosmic Fibers! On the right, the first pair of knit socks I ever owned. Gifted to my by my sister for Christmas a few years ago. I LURV the colors.

magical creature - This is one of Fangs pups. I call him Max. "No MAX! Don't eat Cecil"

muggle artifact - This is my husbands prized artifact! Smokey Joe.

glass of butterbeer - Where was this photo hunt a few days ago when I was making REAL rootbeer floats? You'll have to trust me on that....this is as close to foaming as I could get. It's hard to see, but note the foam that has settled on the counter top? LOL SUDS.

government employee - My US Marine

horcrux - I really wanted to get a picture of the sheep that graze just up the street from my apartment but wasn't quite sure how I would get Cecil close enough. In the interest of my personal safety I opted for this....the Geranium horcrux.

lucky potion - This potion is guaranteed to get you a few nice compliments such as "I wish my wife smelled like you" - it's true. It's great to hear things like that...of course when the wife is sitting right there it's a little uncomfortable. LOL

public art - This is such a dirty dusty city. They try to make up for it by putting colorful tiles in the play areas.

raven's feather - Given that the Azeri national bird is the platic bag you'll just have to settle for the next best thing to a Raven's feather. A feather from my down comforter!



shady shop - I took the picture last night, but forgot to include Cecil! ARGH! I'll figure something out in the next day or so! Good grief! Ok, this is not the original shady shop...so here is the closest shop to мой дом (my house - moy dome). I never use this shop because they sell moldy bread! Shady, VERY SHADY! But hey, in a pinch I'll use them for points!




tree changing seasons - There aren't many trees in Baku and the those in the city near me are of the piney variety and don't change color. I'm not sure if the tree in this picture is dying or is changing seasons(see it there on the right with a hint of gold?)I was lucky enough to capture this shot from my balcony.

used textbook - I love this book. I received it in last terms swap also. It is a handy little reference and definitely well used.

We had to read this book. J.K. Rowling is a literary genius and if you'd dissected the book like I did you'd agree.

I really don't like Picture Day. This is a great idea though.

New Roomies

The start of the semester is always fun for me. I enjoy watching the students settle in to their dorm rooms, become acquainted with each other and just get used to the "buzz" that radiates arounds the halls here.

I have two great roommates this term. Kitty Diricrawl and Olive Bumblebirch. I'm sure we will all get along fine. Kitty has the most beautiful snow globe collection on the head of her bed. I'm going to have to take extra care with Snowy this term and make sure that when she is flying around the room she doesn't get anywhere near those snow globes! Olive has an owl that could pass for Snowy's twin. Her owl's name is Puck. I'm sure happy to have a companion for Snowy this term. She was getting pretty lonely.

I've made wonderful progress on my kit for my spoilee. I've purchase the yarn for her "surprise kit", I'm halfway through with her bag, have a few extra things purchased and now just have to order a few staple items and sit back and wait for them to arrive. I am going to have this kit out before the holiday rush for sure!

Snowy was on a much deserved vacation after making her last journey so I've been without mail for a few weeks. She's just made a trip back from the post and WOW, do I have a lot of catching up to do.

And um, have any of you seen the new Dark Arts instructor? Professor Whitmarsh? WOW. I'd like him to teach me more than a few things.

Ravenclaw's Newest Residents

Well it's here! The start of another Hogwarts term. This semester is looking like it will be the best ever and I'm so excited for classes to begin. This Interhouse Scholarship is wonderful. It has allowed me to join another house here at Hogwarts! This semester I will be in Ravenclaw. I'm a bit nervous. The students in this house are REALLY smart so I hope I don't let them down.

Today as I was walking the halls trying to find my way back to my dorm room I saw a flash out of the corner of my eye. I didn't get a good look, but it looked just like a House Elf. Now I'd heard of other houses with House Elves, but not Ravenclaw. I'd love to get a good look at her ( I get a good enough look that I know the Elf was a her...)

Our Elf also doesn't seem to have a name and we've been given the task of naming her. I think Corvina would be a lovely name for her. It means "like a raven".

End of a great term for HSKS5

The packages are arriving and people are starting to pack up their trunks and head back to their muggle lives for the rest of the summer. This has been an exciting semester at Hogwart's...never a dull moment as usual.

My spoilee Avada Abraxam of Gryffindor received her package from me about a week ago and it seems as though she really enjoyed the contents and I am thrilled about that.

My spoiler Allitrya Spelling contacted me earlier this week to let me know that she had mailed my package and I'll be looking for it to arrive in a few weeks. I say a few weeks because it takes about that long for packages to make it from the muggle world to this magical land that I am living in.

Winding down

Snowy still hasn't made it to Avada, but I'm not worried. She had a lot of air to cover (Azerbaijan - Virginia - New Jersey). It would be nice if she'd arrive by the deadline of July 11th though.

This term is coming to a close already. It seems like it just started last week. We've had a lot of fun, and drama this term. I'm still trying to decide if I'll return to Hogwarts for HSKS6...

There's still plenty of time to decide. Til then, I've got another round of Quidditch to prepare for.

No homework lately

This has been an incredibly easy semester over here in Slytherin House. We've had NO homework for a few weeks. I've been keeping my mind sharp by doing the homework from the other houses. I don't want my brain to wither away to witch dust!

The halls have been fairly quiet all over Hogwarts in fact. I think it must be this summer term. Many students disappear for a week or so for family vacations or just a quiet get away. I'd like to get away for a little while myself.

Mischief Managed!

Well I did it! I managed to get my owl out to my very special friend Avada Axbraxam from Gryffindor. Snowy (my owl) is being trusted to make this flight even though she was a little slow with my last delivery.

I'm hoping that Avada receives her package by the July 11th deadline. Come on Snowy, don't let me down!

And of course, as usual I forgot to take a picture of the package before I sent it, I did take a picture of the bag though, but posting that now would ruin the surprise!

Well this birthday is turning out to be much more than I anticipated. A lovely owl delivered a package to me about a week ago and I promised myself that I would not open it until today....my birthday. Well, first thing this morning I tore in to a set of Knit Picks Harmoney Interchangeable needles, two skeins of yummy sock yarn, an angel pendant necklace and a pair of white gold earrings. Just my style. Thanks mom.

My little dog Max also bought me a bottle of Burberry Summer. What a good dog.

Feeling at Home

Well this room is starting to feel kind of homey. Matilda made a beautiful afghan (in Slytherin colors of course) and is using it on her bed. It looks so beautiful and warm and cozy. Daisy has been super busy knitting and shopping and putting together a wonderful package for her swap partner. And Narcissa, well I think Narcissa might be having strange dreams. Something is waking me up and night and I think that Narcissa may be grinding her teeth. I wonder if she has headaches when she wakes up? The pressure must make her head hurt. I'm going to look (without her knowing I'm looking) to see if her teeth are ground to an angle. Sometimes people who grind their teeth have angled teeth from the grinding back and forth.

My Snowy finally made it to Cliodna Hopkirk. I'm so relieved. I had given up hope and sent her a gift card. Now that they are both there she can enjoy the package and treat herself to some well deserved goodies as a college graduation present! I'm glad that Snowy is safe and I hope that Narcissa's cats like owls because Snowy certainly has had a rough few months and could use a good rest til her next journey in about a month.

Possible MIA for a Few Days

I just wanted to let you all know that I am in the process of moving yet again! I recently left my home in Belarus (where I'd been for only 9 months) and am currently living in Lithuania (in a hotel where I've been since May 3rd). I will be leaving to travel to my new home in Baku on Sunday. Posting from me may be scare over the next two weeks, but I will do my best to honor my committment to you all.

Still Room for 2 More

Well I have two room mates and room for 2 more. So far my Slytherin room mates are Daisy Scrimgeour and Narcissa Shrivelfigs. We are just starting to get acquainted. I'm sure they are both fun girls and I look forward to getting to know them better this term. We have a huge room dorm room so I hope it fills up. Our common room is actually kind of creepy, there are no windows because it is under the lake and there are skulls everywhere. The color is perfect however; green!

Old Friend

I can't believe it. Today as I was strolling the halls trying to learn these new halls I ran in to an old friend Clidonia Acromantula. Clidonia is awesome. I wish I would have known she was coming to Hogwarts. She got sorted in to Hufflepuff (my old house). I would have loved to have her as a room mate.

I'm still waiting to see who my Slytherin housemates will be. Everyone else is walking around in their robes so I guess I better get out of this muggle gear and start looking the part!

The Halls are a BUZZ!

There are students EVERYWHERE here at Hogwart's. I can't believe how busy the halls are. Everyone is moving about saying hello to old friends and making new friends. We are all really excited for the new students to arrive later tonight and to be sorted. I'm sure the houses will fill up quickly. There definitely is not much room left in Ravenclaw dormitory or the Slytherin dormitory.

Has anyone noticed how many Emma's are in Ravenclaw this semester? WOW~I don't know how we are going to keep them all straight.

I think there may be something going on in the Great Hall at some point today so I'm going to keep checking in...maybe I'll be able to catch the Sorting Hat ceremony!

Inter-House Unity Scholarship

WOW! Today was quite a day. Returning students were given the opportunity to apply for an Inter-House Unity Scholarship. This scholarship allows students the opportunity to be sorted in to a new house at Hogwarts. This is this a great opportunity to interact with student's we normally wouldn't get to interact with.

I am happy to say that I was the recipient of one of these scholarships and I am now a proud member of Slytherin! I'm really nervous and excited about this semester. I can't wait until all of the students are here. I wonder who my room mates will be?

I guess I'd better get new robes at Diagon Alley this weekend!

Long Lost Owl

I am so sad today. My owl Snowy is missing! I sent her out on March 26th with a wonderful package to deliver to my secret pal Clionda Hopkirk and she has been seen or heard from since! I am really starting to worry about her. She's never been gone this long before. I wonder if she is ok...I wonder if she'll make it to her destination safely.

I'm going to wait a few more days and then send out a tracking owl. I just hope nothing serious has happened. Owls are so expensive to replace and the new semester is starting in just a few days!

New Semester Starting Soon

Wow, I can't believe the new semester is about ready to begin! Last semester really took a toll on me. I stayed busy the entire semester, but don't feel that I made any really true friends which is kind of disappointing. I still haven't received my OWL and that's a huge disappointment. The Headmistress is checking for me and I'm hoping that the OWL is spotted in the next few days.

I told myself that I was going to drop out of Hogwart's, but I think I've had a change of heart. I've been more active on the boards in the past week and have come to the conclusion that I'm going to make my own fun this semester. I'm not going to wait for it to come to me. If my house is quiet, I'm going to party with the other houses (if they'll have me - which I'm sure they will).

I see Educational Decree #1 has been posted and that has also made me reconsider. Hogwart's IS so much fun.

Returning students can sign up for classes next week Tuesday. I wonder which house I'll be sorted to this semester? I absolutely love the Slytherin colors, but Ravenclaw seems to be calling my name...

The Veela's

I'm pretty sure I have never mentioned this before because it is a topic I generally do not like to discuss, I am 1/2 Veela. My mother and Fleur Delacour's mother are sisters. My mother, Isabella was a very beautiful woman and my father became smitten with her the first time he met her. Theirs was truly a tale of forbidden love. My mother's parents did not approve of her relationship with my father, they forbid her to see him.

After graduating from Hogwarts my father spent as much time as he could along the south coast of France just to see my mother who was still a student at Beauxbatons. My parents were married in a small ceremony along the Mediterranean Coast. They then returned to Scotland and begin their life together.

It wasn't long before my mother received word that her father had taken ill and had requested her to return home to visit him on his death bed. My mother of course returned to see her father, but he was not sick, this was a cruel attempt to steal her away from my father and it worked.

I was born 8 months later, in France. My grandfather wanted no part of my father in his home and ordered my mother to send me to live with my father. My grandfather was a very hateful man and drove my mother to be institutionalized.

Having Fleur here at Hogwarts for the Triwizard Tournament has been a bit strange for me. She and I have not acknowledged one another and I don't know that we ever will. When I mentioned her to my father he got a very distant look in his eye. He promised me that we would talk more about it, but now just wasn't the time.

Back from Vacation

Well, I'm back at Hogwart's all rested and ready to finish out the semester with a BANG! I'm hoping we Hufflepuff's can pull ourselves back up to the top of the House Points.

Germany was wonderful. I have lots of pictures to share and after I get finished sorting through these OWL messages and taking care of a few Muggle chores I will post them.

Greetings from Germany

I am relaxing and enjoying a nice vacation in Garmish, Germany. I'm hoping to do many fun tours and see many enjoyable sights on my trip. The resort has beautiful views of the Bavarian Alps and I'm hoping to enjoy a massage or two or three!

I arrived yesterday and will be touring around Germany until the 28th. I'll be returning to Hogwart's on the 29th, but if you need me for anything just send me an owl. Snowy (my owl) will be delivering the answers to the Quidditch Round 2 Quiz.

Happy Valentine's Day

I just couldn't wait to share the news! I learned about this special place at Hogwart's called the Room of Requirement. It is a magical room that only appears when you are in need of it. Well Stewart and I needed a place where we could have a nice romantic Valentine's dinner and the room appeared. It was beautiful...it looked just like we were dining on the beach. My clothes even changed from my school uniform to a cute little tank top, nice skirt and strappy sandals.

We had a great conversation and laughed like teenagers (well I guess we are aren't we?). It was a great date!

I hope now that we've found this special room that we are able to escape there from time to time, just to get away from it all.

Have Fun in Hogsmeade

I won't be going to Hogsmeade this weekend. I am SO far behind on my school work and knitting that I need to stay put. I will tell you though that you must visit Honeydukes Sweetshop when you are there. This was by far my favorite shop. There were shelves and shelves of the most magnificent candy and their homemade fudge is to die for! Bring some fudge back for me!

Snitch Found!

Well my first Quidditch match has come and gone. I definitely need more practice in the seeker department. I was there! I mean I really was on that site and did not see the darned thing! I'm so disappointed, but at the same time relieved that it was over so quickly. 47 minutes, that all it lasted. I was prepared to go the duration. I think the longest game of Quidditch lasted 16 hours. Can you imagine?

Well that being said, this was a very interesting week at Hogwart's the Headmistress had to hand out a few detentions in Ravenclaw House. Apparently there were a few attempts made to sabotage the success of the other Houses' success in the Quidditch Quiz and Scavenger Hunt. Lucky for the rest of us a Hogwart's the Headmistress is a very fair Headmistress and these offenders were set straight.

I may only be a first year, but I've learned that competition brings out the worst in people. These events are about making friends and having fun, not destroying the fun for the other participants. I mean come on people, this is a KNITTING EVENT!

Back from Hogsmeade

I'm back from Hogsmeade and I must say I'm a bit relieved! Not much goes on in that town, but what does go on is a bit bizarre. I guess that's why it's offlimits until 3rd year so we're a little more prepared for the strange sightings!

Stewart swore me to secrecy so I can't tell how we got there, but I will say that there are several ways to get there from Hogwart's, you just need to know the right people! If the headmistress or the teachers find out I ventured in to Hogwart's as a first year I'm bound to be expelled and Stewart too!

Honeydukes Sweetshop was by far my favorite shop. There were shelves and shelves of the most magnificent candy and their homemade fudge is to die for! We had a nice lunch and a delightful herbal tea at Madam Puddifoots tea shop. I thought the place was rather quaint, but Stewart seemed bored out of his mind. He was much more interested in visiting Zonko's Joke Shop. He purchased some Dungbombs so I'd be on the lookout around Hogwart's if I was you. He said they were for a "friend", but you never know. I swear I think he's part Weasley!

I tried butterbeer....Madam Rosmerta swears there is no alcohol in it. All the boys love to go to The Three Broomsticks and sit and stare at Madam Rosmerta. She is a pretty woman, but on a date it's enough to give a girl a complex.

Well I've got to get a good night sleep tonight. Tomorrow's the first big Quidditch match and I plan on helping the Hufflepuff House to become VICTORIOUS!

Head Girl

This semester is becoming much more than I expected. There was a notice on the Common Room bulletin board about needing a Hufflepuff Head Girl. I inquired and the duties seemed like ones I'd be able to handle so I said I would do it. Our Prefect and the Headmistress accepted my offer. So I'm now the Hufflepuff Headgirl. I think I have my cheerleading costume around here somewhere. I'm going to go dig that out of my trunk. We've got another quiz due this week and it looks like my housemates could use some encouragement. We're number one right now in House Cup points and I want us to stay on top!

Other exciting news. I received an OWL from Stewart today. It seems that he is planning to go to Hogsmeade this weekend and has invited me to go with. I'm really excited, and nervous at the same time. It will be a great time I'm sure. Hogsmeade is a great city with plenty of things to see and do. Stewart is a great friend. He's really helped me to feel at home here at Hogwarts.

Busy Week

This first week of classes sure has been interesting. I've made lots of new friends, a potential love interest, taken a quiz, learned a few spells and potions and best of all learned to ride a broomstick.

The broomstick lesson Stewart gave me really helped a lot. It gave me the confidence to just do it. It's all in the voice.

The Hufflepuff Common room has been really quiet, not much goes on in there so it's a great place to get out of my room to study and knit. I've seen a few games of Gobstones and Exploding Snap going on around Hogwarts. I think I'm going to take a walk to see if I can find Stewart and his friends. They may be interested in playing a few rounds of Gobstones!

Major Distraction

As if I wasn't having a hard enough time in Potions class, Snape paired me up with a 4th year named Stewart Trelawney. We shared a cauldron with a couple of his Ravenclaw housemates. I was the only Hufflepuff. I think Stewart likes me. He invited me to come with him after school today to practice on the broomstick. I really should go study but I found myself saying yes.

There's something about this guy, I can't put my finger on it. It might be his fascination with Muggle transportation. He says he has a 79' Volkswagon Beetle at home. He showed me pictures, they were really nice. It's red! He also loves airplanes. He doesn't know if wants to live in the Muggle world or the Wizard world yet. His mother is a Muggle and his father is 1/2 Muggle. They let him decided about coming to Hogwart's and he chose to, but now is rethinking things. With only two years to go, I hope he sticks with it. I'd hate to see him go (especially because he is so cute).

Tough Day in Potions

Today was the first day of classes and I must say, it is a lot more difficult than I anticipated. Potions is extremely challenging. That is where I'm going to need to focus my attention. The right blend of ingredients, in the correct proportions. This stuff is tricky. I'm hoping someone will be able to tutor me. Professor Snape definitely favors the Slytherin students, so the rest of us have to work very hard for good marks. I could feel him glaring at me when I accidently bumped in to the supply cart. I thought for sure he was going to deduct house points. Luckily nothing was broken or wasted. WHEW! Potions practice is on my agenda for the rest of the day!

I still haven't been able to catch up with any of my fellow Hufflepuff students in the Great Hall or the Common Room. They sure are an elusive bunch. I guess since we are such a small group and the Hufflepuff House is so large there is plenty of space for everyone to claim his/her own territory.

Quidditch will be starting soon so at some point I'm going to need some broomstick lessons. I'm hoping to be able to get Madam Hooch to give me some private lessons. First years aren't allowed to bring brooms to Hogwarts so I'll need to borrow one from the school's supply room. With permission of course.

My secret pal is a Ravenclaw! I didn't realize before I came to Hogwarts that there is a lot of debate over the Ravenclaw colors recently. Some students prefer blue with bronze and others blue with gold. The students are allowed to choose which color combination they prefer which I think is a wonderful idea. I'm not going to say which combination my Ravenclaw prefers because that might just give too much away!

Well, it's back to the books for me.

Big Day Tomorrow

Well, classes start tomorrow and Hufflepuff is getting started on the right foot. We are currently leading in points for the House Cup! Way to go Hufflepuff!

It is very quiet here at Hufflepuff. I hope things get a little more active once classes start. It gets pretty lonely wandering the halls by myself, not to mention scary...that Filch gives me the creeps.

I'm going to call it a night. I'm going to hang out in my room and read a few chapter of Hogwarts a History.

Hufflepuff Reporting for Classes

Well I made it to Hogwarts with no trouble. I'm really excited to meet some of my fellow Hufflepuff's. Our common room was deserted when I first arrived. I decided to unpack and then get some practice with my wand. I'm not very skilled in the wand department. I'm going to need a lot of practice. It's a beautiful day, so I'm going to take a walk and work on my technique.

Mr. Ollivander said that the perfect wand for me was made from Apple!

Heading to Hogwarts

Apparently there was a error on the invitation and classes actually start next week! I'm all packed and ready to go. I should arrive at Hogwarts in the morning. I'm so looking forward to meeting my Hufflepuff housemates. I won't have as much time to explore and get acquainted as I'd hoped, but I'm definitely ready to get started.

Off I go!

Busy Day for Owls

Last night I was sitting in my living room knitting a pair of socks and I kept hearing a faint tapping sound. I thought maybe it was a tree limb brushing up against the roof so I ignored it. About 2 hours later I could still hear this sound and it was really starting to bother me, you know, like nails on a chalkboard.

About that time my father came in to the room and exclaimed, "Bella, are you going to let that poor owl stay out there all night?" "Let the poor thing in so we can see what she brought for us?!".

I turned around and right behind me at the window was a beautiful tawny! Don't get me wrong, I think Snowy is the most beautiful owl I've ever seen, but this tawny was special. She was delivering the identify of my Hogwarts Sock Kit Swap pal. I hurriedly paid her 5 knuts and then just held the parchment in my hand, I was afraid to look. I've been waiting for this for weeks and here it was and I couldn't open it.

Finally, my father took the parchment from my hand and read the letter to me...

"Hello! The time has come!!! Are you excited to find out who your partner is??? Well, without further ado . . . "

So there it was, my secret pal (the one I get to spoil). The next few hours were spent getting to know my secret pal by reading her online blog and her profile on Ravelry. I have a lot of ideas. I jotted a quick note and off Snowy went, on her first mission...to deliver my introductory letter to my HSKS4 secret pal.

I just know this is going to be a great semester. This was quickly confirmed by another knocking owl, this one was from MY secret pal. WoW! I have a secret pal. Someone is going to spoil me.

I don't know how much we are supposed to say right now, so I'm just going to say that I am very excited about this day and these owls!

My father has promised me a return visit to Diagon Alley this weekend to do some secret pal shopping!

The List

Well, we got a lot accomplished at Diagon Alley yesterday. We managed to find almost all of my school supplies with the exception of The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection"by Quentin Trimble. Flourish & Blotts says they just can't seem to keep them in stock these past few years. I guess I'll have to use the library's copy or share with my housemates.

I bought a new cage for Snowy, my owl at Eeylops Owl Emporium. Snowy was a gift from my father when I received my invitation to Hogwarts. I think my favorite part of the day was our visit to Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour. Mr. Florean and dad talked for almost TWO hours. I didn't mind though, Mr. Florean makes a great ice cream sundae!

I had a chance to do some window shopping while we were waiting for Madam Malkin to finish my new robes, complete with name tags I might add! This secret pal package has me so excited. I can't wait to get started shopping for some special items for my pal like nice yarn for socks, knitting needles and stitch markers. I wonder what house she's in? Oooh, I hope she knits! I enjoy knitting so much I just assume everyone does!

I hope there is a nice big comfy chair in our common room! I hope there's a fireplace! I'm sure there's got to be a fireplace right? I can just picture myself and all my housemates sitting around the fire, in big comfy chairs knitting and talking about our day. It will be so nice to have girls my own age to talk to!

I plan to leave for Hogwarts on Monday! That will give me plenty of time to get unpacked, meet my housemates and maybe do some exploring around the school before classes begin on the 21st.

Anticipation

Wow! I can't believe I finally made it to Hogwart's. It seems like I've been wanting this for so long. Is that possible? I mean every first year starts at the same age, but it just seems like I should have been here before now...I was ready before, but I'm even more ready now!

I'm excited to be in the house of Hufflepuff! I know we will be victorious this year! I can just feel it.

I'm can't wait for classes to begin on the 21st. My father and I are visiting Diagon Alley today to do some preliminary shopping, you know "the list". All first years have "the list".

I'm especially excited that this year at Hogwart's they've decided to let the Houses get to know each other a little better. We're all being assigned a secret pal from another house and we will be creating very special packages for that special witch or wizard which will be delivered by Owl sometime in April.

I must admit I am nervous about playing Quidditch! I don't have much practice on a broomstick, but I'm willing to give it a try.
