Hufflepuff House Quiz - Cause They Said We Could

The Hufflepuffs have homework this week and it looked like a lot of fun. Since they said other houses could do it I thought I'd give it a try. And maybe, just maybe I'll be able to score some java from the barista! ; )

1 Which is your favorite book in the series (and why)? My favorite book is the Sorcerer's Stone because I was introduced to the Potter Series in a Children's Literature class in college. We had to read this book. J.K. Rowling is a literary genius and if you'd dissected the book like I did you'd agree.

2 If you were taking Owls, which class would you get an E in? Would you get any Ts? I don't think I'd get any T's and I would most likely get an E in either Charms or Herbology or BOTH!

3 Who is your favorite character (or characters) in the Harry Potter series? I love Snape. I think his character has some of the best lines in the books. Of course there's always Ron Weasley! He's just so real to me.

4 If you had to pick 1 character for a roommate, who would you pick and why? Who'd be your least-favorite to have as a roommate? I would not want to room with Crabbe or Goyle. I would choose Luna to room with because, well because she's Luna and there would NEVER be a dull moment.

5 Hufflepuffs are a hardworking bunch, but also a bit mischievous. Which Hogwarts professor would you most like to prank, and how would you do it? I would love to be able to pull one over on Professor McGonagall, but I think the chances of that are highly unlikely.

6 Favorite DADA professor? (from the books, Lucius does NOT count :) Mad Eye Moody! Love the eye.

7 Favorite magical creatures? (Also, if for example you like a certain creature in general, but not how they are represented in the HP canon, feel free to elaborate :)

8 What is your favorite food in the HP universe? Which food or foods would you like to try in real life? Do you have any recipes to share with us ;)? Treacle Tarts are the treat I would most like to try. I think in the wizarding world Pumpkin Pasties would be my favorite.

9 Broom, floo powder, portkey, or magic carpet? Port key. I don't like fire, brooms or carpets.

10 Since we're Hufflepuffs... Yellow or Black? Black of course.

I really don't like Picture Day. This is a great idea though.

New Roomies

The start of the semester is always fun for me. I enjoy watching the students settle in to their dorm rooms, become acquainted with each other and just get used to the "buzz" that radiates arounds the halls here.

I have two great roommates this term. Kitty Diricrawl and Olive Bumblebirch. I'm sure we will all get along fine. Kitty has the most beautiful snow globe collection on the head of her bed. I'm going to have to take extra care with Snowy this term and make sure that when she is flying around the room she doesn't get anywhere near those snow globes! Olive has an owl that could pass for Snowy's twin. Her owl's name is Puck. I'm sure happy to have a companion for Snowy this term. She was getting pretty lonely.

I've made wonderful progress on my kit for my spoilee. I've purchase the yarn for her "surprise kit", I'm halfway through with her bag, have a few extra things purchased and now just have to order a few staple items and sit back and wait for them to arrive. I am going to have this kit out before the holiday rush for sure!

Snowy was on a much deserved vacation after making her last journey so I've been without mail for a few weeks. She's just made a trip back from the post and WOW, do I have a lot of catching up to do.

And um, have any of you seen the new Dark Arts instructor? Professor Whitmarsh? WOW. I'd like him to teach me more than a few things.

If you are a Ravenclaw, do you prefer the film colors or the book colors? I love the book colors, but the bronze is sometimes difficult. The movie colors are really nice too. I guess what I'm saying is it really doesn't matter.

My favorite flavor: This is hard, but I think I'd have to go with key lime!

My favorite holiday: Halloween, Thanksgiving or Christmas. I love Christmas

I would like to receive a: (Sock kit, scarf kit or yarn dyeing kit) Scarf, dyeing, then sock

List your favorite brand of needles or hooks, including size and length: I have the Knit Picks Harmony interchangeable set and love them so pieces to compliment that set such as additional cables (40, 47 or 60") or needle points (13, 15 or 17) that don't come in the kit. I would also love some of the 16" circs for socks...maybe the larger size 2 or 3.

Is there a brand that you are dying to try?: I'm willing to try any....

Ravenclaw's Newest Residents

Well it's here! The start of another Hogwarts term. This semester is looking like it will be the best ever and I'm so excited for classes to begin. This Interhouse Scholarship is wonderful. It has allowed me to join another house here at Hogwarts! This semester I will be in Ravenclaw. I'm a bit nervous. The students in this house are REALLY smart so I hope I don't let them down.

Today as I was walking the halls trying to find my way back to my dorm room I saw a flash out of the corner of my eye. I didn't get a good look, but it looked just like a House Elf. Now I'd heard of other houses with House Elves, but not Ravenclaw. I'd love to get a good look at her ( I get a good enough look that I know the Elf was a her...)

Our Elf also doesn't seem to have a name and we've been given the task of naming her. I think Corvina would be a lovely name for her. It means "like a raven".
